Energy Storage for Local Authorities in the UK

05/05/2020

Connected Energy has a strong history of collaborative work with local authorities. This page is intended to give you an overview of our technology and its benefits for your possible projects.

You may be visiting this page from the LASER Energy website. We are very happy to be an official supplier of the LASER Energy procurement framework for UK local authorities.

If you are visiting our site as part of the Laser framework, please refer to the disclaimer at the bottom of this page for guidance on how to proceed with enquiries.

You can make sustainable revenue with our new energy storage hardware.

Trusted by global corporations and local authorities, Connected Energy technology contains second life electric vehicle batteries from manufacturers such as Jaguar Land Rover and Renault.

Our technology takes advantage of these manufacturers’ huge investment in EV batteries. This gives you access to full battery performance, internal battery management, safety devices, cooling technology and certified control systems.

Our systems are low cost and sustainable. Re-purposed electric vehicle batteries are replaced at an increasingly reduced price. Our batteries are a growing resource, which is good for both the planet and your financial targets.

Connected Energy systems are installed with software, so our technical team keeps everything working with no distractions for you. Our hardware prevents expensive brownouts and can pair with renewable energy assets.

Our breakthrough business model

E-STOR is the first commercially available and cost competitive energy storage system to utilise second life electric vehicle batteries and has global potential.

Connected Energy’s unique business model bridges the gap between two customer groups: EV OEMs who need a route to market for their second life batteries and energy users who seek low cost sustainable energy storage solutions.

We procure the used batteries from EV OEMs and using our unique algorithms can control multiple batteries with differing levels of degradation, as one aggregated system.

Our control architecture is unique in being applicable to any OEM EV battery. Our separate battery and power modules mean that as batteries become degraded, they can be easily and cheaply swapped with replacement batteries.

This low-cost technology also facilitates the greater uptake of energy storage which in turn enables the greater penetration and optimisation of renewable energy in electricity networks.

Its broad applicability means E-STOR is enabling a range of energy users to reduce energy and connection costs, improve energy resilience and optimise the value of renewable generation.

Eliminating the concept of waste

Connected Energy has identified additional value that can be extracted from the finite resources embedded in EV batteries.

If the batteries were simply recycled after their first life use this value would be lost.

Once installed and active, our technology remotely monitors the second life batteries to maximise their utility.

Once these batteries are degraded beyond all usability, they are recycled and replaced again with more second life batteries. The used recycled battery materials re-enter the economy for further use.

What we can do for you

E-STOR is the first commercial deployment of this technical and commercial concept and (alongside our project pipeline) makes Connected Energy the leader in this field and a pioneer of a circular economy approach to energy storage.

Our uniquely sustainable commercial offering as well as our ethos and company culture make us distinct from our competitors worldwide.

Here is our project approach –

1. STRATEGIC CONSULTATION: We look at your options for on-site energy management

2. FINANCIAL PROJECTIONS: You receive a detailed report showing the financial benefits

3. BESPOKE DESIGN: Your system is built exactly to size, which keeps the costs fair

4. DELIVERY + INSTALLATION: We take care of all logistics and set-up of your system
